FUNCTION
This overhead-style extractor removes blooms weighing up to 8.5 tons from a furnace and places them onto a roller table. This project was part of a larger project to upgrade bloom handling for a bar mill. BENEFIT RECEIVED
The extractor offered increased capacity and reduced maintenance. Also, since the extractor's lift arms are completely removed from the furnace after extraction, the openings in the furnace wall can be closed thus reducing energy loss. |
